A subdomain is a part of a web address which is under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every single subdomain can have its own website and records and can also be hosted with a different company if you wish to use a feature that's not provided by your current service provider. A good example for using a subdomain is if you have a business website along with an online store under a subdomain where clients can purchase your products. Additionally, you can have a forum in which they can discuss the products and by employing subdomains instead of subfolders you are going to avoid any risk of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping the sites separated is also less risky in the event of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Hosting

Every single shared hosting plan we offer will enable you to create numerous subdomains with no more than a couple of clicks in your hosting Control Panel. They're going to be listed in the area where you create them and grouped under the main domain for more convenience, so that you can very easily keep track of all of them. In addition, you can access many functions for any of the subdomains via right-click context menus - for instance, you can view or modify their DNS records, access the site files, and much more. While setting up a new subdomain, you will also have a number of options that you can select from - specify the default access folder, set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or decide if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. How many subdomains you'll have is entirely up to you as we haven't restricted this feature for any of our plans.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our Linux semi-dedicated hosting don't have a set limit for the number of subdomains which you can create. Adding a new subdomain in the account takes only a couple of mouse clicks in the Hepsia hosting CP and throughout the process you can choose the folder the subdomain will access if it will be different from the default one, set up customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions if you need them or set a dedicated IP address as opposed to the shared server one if you have added such an upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. When the subdomain is set up, you will be able to access logs and visitor stats or swiftly jump to the site files for it within the File Manager area via fast access buttons. All subdomains that you have inside the account will be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you are going to be able to find and control any one of them easily.
